Single Compression Units

Note -- Impco has purchased FuelMaker's assets and as their website states, "BRC FuelMaker is committed to the continued production and support of the VRA and PHILL product lines. Both product lines will be back on the market in the near future."

FuelMaker's single compression units are generally used by homes, small businesses, and government for refueling. Like Phill, it compresses natural gas from your home line into the tank of your vehicle (but faster). New single compression units costs approximately $8,000 or can be found used around $3,500-$5,000. Their compressors are good for 4,000 hours of service (approximatley 4,000 GGE's of CNG), but can be remanufactured indefinitely onsite for approximately $700. Federal (and possibly state/local) incentives exist for the purchase and installation of a new single compression unit.

Single compression units must generally be installed outdoors and make about the same noise level as your air conditioner. However, I've heard that some HOA's object to the outdoor unit. Models with one or two hoses (allowing you to fuel more than one vehicle at a time), 3000 or 3600 psi, and other specifications are available.

I recommend you compare Phill with one of FuelMaker's single compression units when contemplating a refueling appliance for home use.
