Single Compression Module

The BRC FuelMaker single compression module VRAs are natural gas fueling devices generally utiliazed by homes, small businesses, and government. Like the Phill VRA, they compress natural gas from your home natural gas line into the tank of your vehicle (but faster). New single compression module units cost approximately $9,000 or can be found used for around $3,500-$5,000. Their compressors are good for 4,000 hours of service (approximatley 4,000 GGE's of CNG), but can be remanufactured onsite for approximately $700. Federal (and possibly state/local) incentives exist for the purchase and installation of new single compression module VRAs.
The three following single compression module VRAs are currently available:
- FMQ-2-36
- FMQ-2.5
- FMQ-2
Single compression module VRAs have about the same noise level as an air conditioner unit. Options are available such as multiple hoses, allowing you to fuel more than one vehicle at a time. Specifications vary by unit for higher or lower tank pressures, and different fill rates. Accessories are also available for fast fuel storage and remote fueling.
I recommend you compare Phill with one of FuelMaker's single compression module VRAs when contemplating a private/home refueling appliance.
