Colorado Natural Gas Prices Drop In Half

Colorado natural gas prices dropped in half last month, thanks in part to increased production in the Rocky Mountains. At these prices, home CNG refueling would cost approximately $0.60 - 0.65 per GGE. Someone should clue in Clean Energy.

CNG Blue Diamond Placard

A CNG blue diamond placard should be displayed on the rear, right-hand side of every CNG vehicle. The most important reason for the placard is to warn emergency responders of the presence of highly compressed natural gas.

Official replacement placards can be purchased from automotive dealers, although sites like eBay carry unofficial placards as well.

Questar Gas asks Utah PSC to cut natural gas rates by $63 million, which would lower the typical homeowner’s annual bill by about $43 or 5.3 percent, beginning Nov. 1. This could potentially lower CNG prices from $0.88 to $0.85 per GGE.

I am absolutely grateful to Questar for opening their stations to the public but I think it's obvious that a quadrupling of CNG dispensed over the last 18 months invalidates the following comment:

"'To go ahead and just start installing stations at every gasoline outlet we can find wouldn't be a prudent, wise investment of money for a service we're not sure will ever really respond,' Shepherd said."

Demand would suggest that something (child company / spin off / etc.) needs to be done to build and manage more CNG capacity in Utah.
